Arc Flash & Fire Resistant Lanyards

An “Arc Flash” is a phenomenon where an electric current leaves its intended path, travels through the air and hits something else. The results of an arc flash are devastating – easily causing irreversible damage and even likely death. The only way to protect yourself from an arc flash is to wear proper PPE and specialized equipment.

Arc flash rated fall protection lanyards are built with materials and techniques designed to minimize the potential of an arc flash. They are typically built with a inherently fire resistant material like Nomex/Kevlar fiber – known for natural durability and fire resistance. Metal components are typically either PVC coated, replaced with webbing or otherwise substituted to minimize conductivity and potential shock.

In short – arc flash lanyards protect at-height workers who are at risk of a potential arc flash (think utility workers).

Dual-leg Shock Absorbing Lanyards

When you need to move from one anchor point to another – you are going to want a dual-leg shock absorbing lanyard. A lanyard with two legs allows the user to hop from one anchor point to another without ever having to disconnect – this is called 100% tie-off.

Double-leg lanyards not only make working at height safer – it improves productivity and morale. By maintaining a 100% tie-off there is never a chance of free fall, users can work with confidence while moving from one position to another.

On top of allowing fluid workflow and maintaining 100% tie-off – dual leg shock absorbing lanyards are equipped with a non-metal energy absorber which limit falling forces to safe levels in the event of a fall.

In short, dual leg shock absorbing lanyards should be used while working at-height in environments with multiple anchor points.

The Force2™ lanyard is ideal when there is no overhead anchorage and your only option is to tie-off at your feet. It can be used for up to a 12 ft. (3.7 m) free fall, or as a standard lanyard up to a 6 ft. (1.8 m) free fall for workers that require a capacity of 311 to 420 lbs. (141-190 kg). They feature our exclusive Hi-10™ Vectran™ energy management materials that provide second-to-none abrasion, cut and chemical resistance, and efficient shock absorption. Should a fall occur, the lanyard and its unique energy absorbing system will activate stopping the fall and reducing the forces imposed on the user to safe levels. Our patented self-locking snap hooks which are widely recognized in the industry for their user friendly operation and are preferred by safety professionals and workers alike.

Force2™ lanyards are ideal where there is no OVERHEAD anchorage and the only option is to tie-off at work feet. The Vectran energy management system provides top-level protections against abrasions, cuts & chemicals.
