Arc Flash & Fire Resistant Lanyards

An “Arc Flash” is a phenomenon where an electric current leaves its intended path, travels through the air and hits something else. The results of an arc flash are devastating – easily causing irreversible damage and even likely death. The only way to protect yourself from an arc flash is to wear proper PPE and specialized equipment.

Arc flash rated fall protection lanyards are built with materials and techniques designed to minimize the potential of an arc flash. They are typically built with a inherently fire resistant material like Nomex/Kevlar fiber – known for natural durability and fire resistance. Metal components are typically either PVC coated, replaced with webbing or otherwise substituted to minimize conductivity and potential shock.

In short – arc flash lanyards protect at-height workers who are at risk of a potential arc flash (think utility workers).

Dual-leg Shock Absorbing Lanyards

When you need to move from one anchor point to another – you are going to want a dual-leg shock absorbing lanyard. A lanyard with two legs allows the user to hop from one anchor point to another without ever having to disconnect – this is called 100% tie-off.

Double-leg lanyards not only make working at height safer – it improves productivity and morale. By maintaining a 100% tie-off there is never a chance of free fall, users can work with confidence while moving from one position to another.

On top of allowing fluid workflow and maintaining 100% tie-off – dual leg shock absorbing lanyards are equipped with a non-metal energy absorber which limit falling forces to safe levels in the event of a fall.

In short, dual leg shock absorbing lanyards should be used while working at-height in environments with multiple anchor points.

Tie Back Lanyards combine the best of two worlds. With one piece of equipment you can have a fully functional anchor point and lanyard. These fall protection safety lanyards work great with beams.

Tie-back lanyards

A tie-back lanyard is a single piece of equipment which can wrapped around a beam and hook onto itself – creating a functional anchorage point without the anchor.

Tie-back anchors are ideal for long and thin but durable structures; like scaffolding and steel I-beams. Tie-back lanyards utilize a special hook with rounded edged to prevent serious abrasion should a fall occur.

In short – tie-back lanyards combine the best of both worlds; a single piece of equipment working as a functional lanyard AND anchorage point.
